Behind the scenes

It should look like your place

A logo, a cover photograph and a colour. Small changes that decide whether a guest reads the guide as yours or as a tool you happen to use.

Without it

  • The guide looks like an app, and the guest treats it like one.
  • Your property has a name and a look everywhere except the page guests actually use.
  • Two properties look identical, including to you.

Three things, and they are enough

Branding here is deliberately small. There is no theme editor and no fonts to choose. There are three things that actually change how a guide feels.

A logo. It appears beside your property name at the top of the guide. If you have one anywhere else, use the same one.

A cover photograph. The image across the top. Use the same photo your guests recognise from the listing they booked — arriving at a page that looks like the place they chose is quietly reassuring in a way that a stock image is not.

A colour. Six presets — pine, sage, slate, clay, plum and ocean — or type your own hex code and get exactly that.

What the colour actually does

It is not a background wash. Your colour carries through the working parts of the guide: the buttons, the section icons, the highlighted section, the marks on your house rules.

Two things are handled for you.

A lighter version of your colour is worked out automatically, for the soft backgrounds behind icons and badges. And the text colour on top of your colour is chosen by how light or dark it is, so a pale yellow gets dark text and a deep navy gets white. You cannot accidentally end up with a button nobody can read.

Why bother

The honest answer is trust, and it shows up at one specific moment.

A guest gets a link from someone they have never met and taps it on a phone. For a second, before anything loads, they do not know whether this is legitimate. A page that opens with the photograph of the place they booked, their own name, and their dates answers that question instantly. A page that opens as anonymous software does not.

It matters more with direct bookings, where there is no platform standing behind you, and it matters more for the guest who is cautious about links — which, sensibly, is most people now.

Per property

Branding is set on each property, not on your account.

If you run a mountain cabin and a city flat, they should not look like the same business, because they are not. Different photograph, different colour, and each guide reads as the place it belongs to.

It also helps you. Two properties in one list are much easier to tell apart at a glance when they do not look identical.

What this costs

Branding is part of Pro. On the free plan the guide uses the default look, which is clean and perfectly presentable — your name, your sections, your words. The photograph, the logo and the colour are the paid part.

FAQ

Do I need a logo?

No. Plenty of hosts have none, and the guide looks perfectly good with just a cover photograph and a colour. If you have one already — on a sign, on your listing, on a business card — use it.

Can I use my exact brand colour?

Yes. Pick one of the six presets, or type a hex code and get exactly that. The lighter shade and the readable text colour are worked out from whatever you choose.

Can I use my own web address?

Not at the moment. Guide links are on our domain. If that matters to you, it is worth telling us — it is the kind of thing that gets built when enough hosts ask.

One guide. A private link for every booking.

It expires when guests leave. Writing the first one takes an evening, the first property is free, and there is no card to enter.
